7th Grade Standards & Lab Summary

This year 7th Grade is focused on the following Standards.  We will be working on Inquiry throughout the year while also working on the other standards as targeted units.

• 1.  Inquiry - Use and understand the following Scientific Processes:  Questioning; Planning, conducting, and communicating the results of investigations; Using appropriate tools and techniques to gather data; Think critically and logically about relationships between evidence and explanations.
• 2.  History and Nature of Science:  Explain how science and technology are ongoing processes, developed through human endeavor and revolutionized thinking.
• 3.  Science in Personal and Social Perspectives:  Describe the interactions between human populations, natural disasters, and the environment, and develop a viable solution to a problem.
• 4.  Life Science:  Analyze the relationships among various organisms and their environment.
• 6.  Earth and Space Science:  Describe the composition and interactions between the structure of Earth and its atmosphere.  Understand the processes acting on the Earth and their interaction with the Earth systems.  Understand the relationships of the Earth and other objects in the solar system.

For EVERY lab, students are expected to write a summary.  The summary is required to be a minimum of one notebook page and answer the following questions:

1. What did you do during the lab?
2. What did you learn from the lab?
3. How does the lab relate to the standards?
