Week of January 22

Please remember:

  • ALL students have DAILY homework:
    • Study notes 5-10 minutes, this helps in remembering the information and works better than trying to "cram" right before a test.
    • Update notebook.  Students are expected to bring their updated notebook to class DAILY.  Notebook checks will no longer be announced.  Remember that lab summaries (1.5pg for 7th, 2pg for 8th) as well as all graded assignments need to be glued in!
  • Check SchoolDex often!  I update my grades on a weekly basis (at minimum), and if there is ever a question, please contact me.

This week in Science:

7th Grade:  We've finished our Layers of the Earth Lab and have worked on the notes.  Next up:  Mini project and review!

8th Grade:  We've been learning about the Properties of Water.  The lab took a bit longer and we will be finishing that up on Wednesday and working on the notes.

Week of January 8

Welcome back to school!  The following is regarding the new lunch detention policy:

Lunch Detention for Missing/Low Quality Work and Behavior Issues

At TCDS, we believe tasks and assignment given to students shave value.  We expect students to complete tasks and assignments in a quality manner and don time.  When this does not happen, we believe students should be held accountable for getting their work done.  To this end, we are implementing a new lunch detention program designed to keep students on track and encourage them to complete work in a timely manner.

A teacher, crew leader, or administrator can assign a student to lunch detention for one or more pieces of missing or low quality work.  When a student is assigned, parents swill be notified by email.  Students assigned to lunch detention are expected to bring their lunch and their missing/low quality work to the MPR at the beginning of the lunch period.  They will be supervised by an administrator.  If a student does not report to the MPR for an assigned lunch detention, one additional detention will be assigned and parents swill be notified.

Students can also be assigned to lunch detention for behavior issues in class.

We appreciate your support.  Please contact an administrator if you have any questions about this new policy.

This week in school:

7th Grade:  We are starting to work on Rocks and Minerals.  Make sure to bring your NEW notebook!

8th Grade:  We are starting on our Chemistry Unit.  Make sure to bring your NEW notebook!
